Senior R&D Engineer - Neuro - Galway

West of Ireland company who are working at the cutting edge of technology are looking for a Snr R&D Engineer to join their team in the R&D Neuromodulation sector. This is an exciting role with excellent growth prospects.

 

As a Senior R&D Engineer within the Neuromodulation operating unit, you will play a crucial role in the technical development of new products. You will support a team in researching and translating innovative ideas into commercial medical devices, contributing to the clients legacy of groundbreaking therapies and technologies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical development of new medical devices, from concept generation to commercialization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative products that meet clinical needs.
  • Interface with physicians to understand their requirements and translate feedback into product concepts.
  • Participate in technical innovation initiatives within the department.
  • Identify and mitigate technological risks throughout the design process.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, materials, and processes to produce effective designs.
  • Build strong relationships with team members, staff, and key technology suppliers.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical challenges with existing designs and support portfolio sustaining activities.
  • Contribute to the generation of intellectual property.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Level 8) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct engineering experience within the medical device industry; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in medical device product development is desirable.
  • Technical expertise in Design of Experiments (DOE), Six Sigma, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), etc.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and interface with physicians.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to delegate and direct the work of experienced engineers.
