AMF Consulting is working with a leading manufacturing and innovation-focused organisation to recruit an R&D Technician for their growing team in Galway.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical professional to join a dynamic R&D environment, supporting the development, testing, and validation of innovative products. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, helping bring new products from concept through to real-world field testing.
Brief Overview
As an R&D Technician, you will be responsible for building, modifying, testing, and validating prototype products and systems. The role combines practical engineering work with product testing, data collection, troubleshooting, and collaboration with both engineering teams and end users.
Key Responsibilities
• Build, modify, and test prototype units for field trials and product validation.
• Support engineering validation activities through functional, environmental, and durability testing.
• Test and assess software and hardware performance in both laboratory and real-world environments.
• Work closely with engineers and end users to gather valuable product feedback.
• Document testing activities, results, photographs, and videos to support continuous product improvement.
• Assemble, configure, and validate production test equipment and testing cells.
• Carry out diagnostic testing, fault finding, and root cause analysis on returned components and assemblies.
• Support ongoing product reliability and performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements
• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an electromechanical or similar technical environment.
• Comfortable working both on-site and within outdoor field environments.
• Basic understanding of software functionality and software testing principles.
• Experience collecting and analysing data from physical testing and measurement equipment.
• Strong practical skills in assembly, disassembly, and modification of electromechanical systems.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within a fast-paced, innovative environment.
