As a Principal R&D Engineer, you will lead the technical development of groundbreaking products, from initial research to final commercialization.
Role Description
- Drive research and product development, offering technical expertise and troubleshooting skills.
- Collaborate with physicians to translate their needs into product concepts.
- Foster technical innovation within the department.
- Identify and mitigate technological risks in the design process.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and engineering principles to develop effective designs.
- Build relationships with team members, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Take projects from concept to commercialization phase, playing a pivotal role in the technical aspects.
- Resolve technical challenges with existing designs and support ongoing portfolio activities.
- Contribute to intellectual property generation.
- Mentor and delegate tasks to junior engineers.
- Participate in cross-site Technical Forums and expand your professional network.
- Define and execute strategic goals aligned with business unit strategy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Level 8 degree in Engineering or related field, with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a PHD with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (additional qualifications advantageous).
- Essential experience in catheter delivery systems for structural heart, cardiology, or cardiac surgery.
- Extensive background in medical device product development.
- Proficiency in polymer materials and processing is a plus.
- Proven track record in innovation and technical advisory.
- Strong team player with a passion for engineering concepts and principles.
- Skilled influencer capable of driving large-scale technical initiatives.
- Seasoned professional with expertise in areas such as component/system design, materials, sterilization, test method development, CAD, pre-clinical evaluations, and more.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
