AMF Consulting is partnering with a leading manufacturing and technology-focused organisation to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative R&D team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking products from concept through to production. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and delivery of next-generation electromechanical products for a growing global market.
Brief Overview
As part of a dynamic R&D team, you will contribute to the full product development lifecycle, from initial concepts and prototype development through to testing, validation, and manufacturing handover. This role will suit a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving real-world engineering challenges and working closely with software and electronics teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop new products from concept through to production release.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Build, test, and evaluate prototypes in both laboratory and field environments.
• Conduct product validation and performance testing, documenting findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with electronics and software engineers on integrated control systems.
• Participate in technical design reviews and continuous product improvement initiatives.
• Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles throughout the development process.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
• Manage project timelines and development milestones independently.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation in line with quality management standards.
Requirements
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in product design or product development.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally using SolidWorks, CREO, or similar software.
• Proven ability to take designs from concept through to production handover.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and evaluating prototypes.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, including electrical and software engineering functions.
• Ability to identify root causes, solve problems, and implement corrective actions.
• Strong project planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Full driving licence.
Desirable
• Experience with DFMEA and risk management methodologies.
• Project management experience.
• Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
