A leading electrical contracting and consultancy firm, operating nationwide, is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Manager to join their team. This company is at the forefront of the lighting and utility services sector in Ireland, specializing in public and sports lighting, solar PV, and EV chargers. The successful candidate will lead health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement health and safety strategies that align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Policy and Program Management: Create, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and programs in line with industry best practices.
- Risk Management: Conduct audits and assessments to identify workplace hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Training and Development: Oversee health and safety training programs to ensure all employees understand their safety responsibilities.
- Incident Management: Investigate accidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Quality Management Systems: Manage ISO9001 (Quality), ISO14001 (Environmental), and ISO15001 (Occupational Health and Safety) systems.
- Reporting and Metrics: Prepare detailed reports on health and safety performance for senior management and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinate drills, and ensure organizational readiness.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, management, and external agencies to promote a safety-first culture.
- Supplier Management: Oversee third-party contractor safety documentation and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
- People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the HSEQ team, driving performance excellence.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior management and external bodies to promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Wellbeing Strategy: Develop and maintain the company wellbeing strategy, promoting a holistic approach to employee health.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in a similar role, with proven people management experience.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
- Experience in the construction industry is an advantage.
- Certifications in Manual Handling Instruction are highly desirable.
- Full, clean driving licence.
