AMFConsulting is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer on behalf of a growing organisation in Galway. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Environment, Health and Safety systems while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Group EHS management system in line with ISO 14001, including certification and audit coordination.
- Ensure compliance with EHS legislation across all sites and provide guidance to management teams.
- Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across the organisation.
- Develop, implement and review EHS policies, procedures, risk assessments, inspections and audits.
- Manage contractors and subcontractors working on site.
- Deliver training to promote employee safety awareness and competence.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the HSA, HSE, Fire Services and EPA.
- Manage chemical safety, hazardous waste and lifting equipment compliance.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and report EHS and environmental KPIs including waste, energy, water usage and emissions.
- Drive sustainability initiatives including carbon reduction and energy efficiency.
- Support environmental audits, regulatory inspections and sustainability reporting.
- Assist with employee inductions and safety training.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree (Level 8 or higher) in EHS, Occupational Safety & Health, or related discipline.
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role desirable.
- Manual Handling Instructor certification and Occupational First Aid training advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
