New role with an excellent client based in the west of Ireland, you will be responsible for the management of the clients software development departments 500+ software engineers in various sites (Ireland, Egypt & India); responsible for budgetary, project delivery and quality targets for the client are achieved.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management of software engineering activity globally for the clients Product Line.
  • Software budget management of R&D projects for all centres.
  • Software project delivery across all the clients locations for all centres.
  • Responsibility for the quality and robustness of the Software design and release process through regular design reviews and extensive use of the clients Software Development processes and tools.
  • Optimisation and standardisation of Software development processes and tools:
  • Promotion and use of ASPICE, LLC & RAISE standard development and deployment.
  • Promote the deployment of RAISE in all dept. activities and ensure all staff in dept. are familiar with the same through training and on the job experience.
  • Participate in formal product Design Reviews and Software Reviews
  • Deliver regular status reports and performance metrics for your team, including sub contractors.
  • Ensure efficient Management and communication and control mechanisms are in place for all staff globally.
  • Manage and prioritise global staff allocation (500+ employees) across all projects within budget parameters for the Product Segment including Ireland, India, US, Egypt, and other development sites.
  • Support & drive Recruitment, MTP Planning, Contract supplier selection and negotiation, in different sites.
  • Support CAA process by providing accurate estimates for dept deliverables
  • Assist Business Development Department with Feasibility Studies and subsequent RFQ’s as required
  • Assist R&D Director with Budget and department planning both technical and financial.
  • Identify and deliver actions to contribute to overall R&D efficiencies in the department.
  • Ensure professional management of technical communication with relevant customers and suppliers
  • Sponsor Innovation and creativity in the development of all products
  • Facilitate and review the training programs for software engineers in areas such as development processes, software best practise, new standards, new technologies and functional safety.
  • Develop and manage training plans and training content for dept staff.
  • HR management tasks such as Annual Reviews and Disciplinary action (if required) will be carried out in consultation with the Department Manager.

Requirements

  • A Relevant Technical Engineering Degree eg. Electronics Engineering\Software Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years + experience working in Software/R&D product development role
  • Excellent people management skills, minimum of 8 years+ experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver software projects on time and within budget
  • Experience in managing a global team of SW developers.
  • The ability to motivate and mobilise teams.
  • Experience in multisite development projects
    • ( eg: Communication, tools, Project delivery, Budget etc)
  • Experience in customer communication and engagement
  • Good team player with proven leadership ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident, articulate, self-motivated, determined, energetic
