AMFConsulting is partnering with an established and growing organisation to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function.
Brief Overview
This is a senior finance leadership opportunity for an accomplished finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial insight and a hands-on approach.
Working closely with the senior management team, the Financial Controller will take responsibility for financial reporting, planning, controls, cash flow and compliance across the organisation and its European operations. The role will also provide meaningful financial insight to support profitability, operational efficiency, investment decisions and continued business growth.
The successful candidate will be a confident leader and communicator who can work effectively across finance, operations and senior management within a fast-paced manufacturing or similarly complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting across the Group and its European entities.
- Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, financial reports and performance analysis.
- Provide the Board and senior management team with clear financial insight to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks, trends, growth opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
- Drive improvements in cost control, margins, profitability and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial analysis for investment decisions, CAPEX, R&D initiatives and potential acquisitions.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, banking and treasury activities.
- Oversee core finance functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Payroll and General Accounting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Irish, UK and European statutory, tax and financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain and continuously strengthen internal controls, financial governance and business processes.
- Lead the annual financial statements and audit process, working closely with external auditors and tax advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead, coach and develop the finance team, promoting high standards of accuracy, accountability and business support.
- Drive finance process improvements, including standardisation, automation and enhanced management reporting.
- Support financial due diligence and analysis relating to potential acquisitions.
- Build strong working relationships with operational, project and senior leadership teams across the organisation.
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' finance leadership experience, with responsibility for financial strategy, reporting, controls and team management.
- Strong experience across budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, management reporting, operational finance, statutory reporting, audit and tax compliance.
- Strong understanding of Irish, UK and European accounting, governance and compliance requirements.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, infrastructure or project-based environments would be highly advantageous.
- Strong ERP systems and financial reporting experience, with a track record of improving finance processes.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing finance teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to turn financial information into clear, actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
