AMFConsulting is working with an established organisation operating within Ireland’s infrastructure and utilities sector to recruit an experienced Civils Supervisor for projects across Clare and Limerick.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civils professional to take responsibility for supervising subcontractors and coordinating public infrastructure works across both regions.
Brief Overview
Reporting to the Project Managers, the Civils Supervisor will oversee civil subcontractors delivering maintenance and new-works projects. You will be responsible for ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and in line with agreed programmes.
The position will suit someone with strong site supervision experience across civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects who is comfortable managing multiple work fronts and liaising with project teams, local authorities, utility providers and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise civil construction crews and subcontractors across multiple sites.

Monitor daily activities, progress, productivity and quality of works.

Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and method statements.

Coordinate labour, plant, equipment and materials to keep projects on programme.

Promote and enforce high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks, safety briefings and quality checks.

Coordinate excavation, trenching, ducting, chambers, foundations and reinstatement works.

Ensure permits, licences, traffic-management arrangements and relevant approvals are in place before works commence.

Review utility information and ensure service-location procedures are correctly followed.

Identify potential delays, defects, safety concerns or site issues and escalate where required.

Monitor subcontractor performance and verify completed works and supporting records.

Maintain accurate site diaries, progress reports, inspections, photographs and safety documentation.

Liaise effectively with Project Managers, engineers, local authorities, utility providers and members of the public.

Minimise rework, waste, downtime and avoidable disruption through effective planning and coordination.
Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure works, including responsibility for supervising site teams.

Proven experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts.

Strong practical knowledge of excavation, trenching, ducting, chambers, concrete foundations, underground services, backfilling and reinstatement.

Good understanding of excavation safety, road-opening requirements and traffic management.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and method statements.

Strong leadership, planning, communication and problem-solving skills.

Comfortable using digital systems for site records, photographs, reporting and communication.

Relevant civil engineering, construction or supervisory qualification is desirable, or equivalent practical experience.

Safe Pass and relevant CSCS/Plant Operator certification.

Manual Handling certification.

Full clean driving licence.

Relevant road-opening certification/licence.
-
Occupational First Aid is desirable.

Experience working in live public-road environments is advantageous.

Previous public-lighting or electrical-utilities civils experience is preferred but not essential.
